About the Wine

About the Wine
Rugged, isolated…Brandlin Vineyard is located on a Mount Veeder ridge line overlooking Napa Valley. In the 1870’s, the Brandlins settled on these steep, rocky slopes becoming grape growing pioneers in the region. In 1926, with over 50 years experience, they staked their claim to the 170-acre ranch. This noble site remains home to many of its original vines and Chester Brandlin himself. Brandlin Vineyard’s sustainable viticultural practices also support plant and wildlife bio-diversity in the vineyard as well as the surrounding 132 acres of native oak trees and other indigenous vegetation.

Tasting Panel Notes
Tasting Panel Notes
At the end of the night reviewing all of the tasting notes, there were a lot of stars and delicious adjectives next to this wine. Many days later when we reviewed which wines really stood out, everyone said, “Brandlin, definitely.” If you are a fan of concentrated ripe dark berry fruit (think blueberry pie…yum!), you’ll love what this wine offers. It has excellent structure and balance that put this one at or near the top of everyone’s list. This wine got a resounding ‘thumbs up’ from all of the winemakers on the panel…that speaks for itself.

Winemaker’s Quote:
“This wine reflects Brandlin Vineyard’s distinctive terroir through its rich fruit and great tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent with black cherry, plum, coffee and chocolate notes. The Malbec adds to the wine’s bouquet, acidity and length. The Cabernet Franc provides lavender, violet and spice to the blend, and the Petit Verdot imparts a low bass note and a reservoir of tannin. The wine is very approachable now and will continue to develop complexity through a decade or more of proper cellaring.”
                                                ~ Steven Rogstad, Winemaker
