About the Wine

About the Wine
For its inaugural vintage, the 2007 InSpire exhibits a youthful exuberance in both its personality and the style of the wine. Calling out the “spire” in InSpire, the label depicts a rising spire that represents the desire to “reach up” and help others...the company donates 10% of proceeds to a non-profit that benefits the underprivileged in Peru. The red symbol at the top of their spire is an ancient Incan icon that symbolizes the pursuit of knowledge as a means to overcome obstacles. The small, handcrafted production allows the winemaker to pay attention to every detail in the vineyard and winery. The grapes were hand-picked and sorted at the peak of ripeness and aged 20 months in the finest French oak barrels.

Tasting Panel Notes
It’s always exciting to taste a new wine from a very well-respected winemaker such as Mia Klein who has productions such a Dalle Valle, Spotswoode, Araujo and Viader to their credits. In this case, an honor. The name says a lot and the wine is beautifully done in a rich round style that is very approachable (drinkable) early, but has good balanced structure to last. You can tell they sourced some premium Napa fruit for this wine with a noticeable variety of black fruit flavors that make for a well-rounded juicy wine. This one will only get better in coming years...we’ll be watching intently.

Winemaker’s Quote:
“The 2007 InSpire is quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon; big and bold, yet balanced and refined. Ultra-ripe blueberry and blackberry are evident in the nose along with aromas of vanilla and dark chocolate. The wine is dense and rich on the palate with excellent structure and has a long, layered finish”
                                                           ~ Mia Klein, Winemaker
