About the Wine

About the Wine
Falcor’s simple philosophy is that great wines start in the vineyard. They have developed proprietary relationships with premium growers in order to select the best suited vineyards for each single varietal. The 2005 “Le Bijou(“The Jewel” in French) is an elegant Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Crafted in the style of great Bordeaux wines, the varieties were aged separately in French oak for eleven months, then racked, blended together and placed back into barrel for 15 months additional aging.

This was a tough group to impress, but the 2005 Le Bijou did a very good job of getting accolades from everyone in the room. It’s not easy getting such intense ripe fruit to have such great balance and structure combined with smooth tannins. Almost everyone noted the extended berry finish on this wine that highlighted the superb expression of both red and black fruits. Our experts marveled about its perfect balance of complexity and fruit showcasing superb winemaking in a premium red blend. Trust us on this one, it will be a true ‘jewel’ for the ladies.
